It depends on what you want. If your priority is to avoid rain, the numbers point to September through December. October, November and December have the lowest averages of the year, and it stays warm.
If you are planning a June or July trip from the US, keep in mind that those are among the wettest months in Pipa, with 184 mm and 167 mm. That is no reason to cancel, but plan something for cloudy days. A fall or Christmas trip lines up with the driest stretch of the year.
January and February are a middle ground, with 72 mm and 92 mm. In 2027, Carnival falls in February, and Easter falls at the end of March, when the average rises to 129 mm.
September to December. This is the driest period, with highs of 27 °C to 28 °C. It is a good window if you want to be on the beach every day.
January and February. Rain starts to climb, and it stays hot. It is summer in Brazil.
March to July. This is the wettest stretch, with April and June at the top. Temperatures stay pleasant, so the trip still works if you accept a few rainy days.
August. A transition month: rainfall drops to less than half of June, and temperatures stay among the lowest of the year.
Millimeters show how much falls in a month, not how many days it rains or how long each shower lasts. A piece by Isaac Ache, published in Revista Bora in 2015 and reproduced on the Vive Pipa blog, describes rain that tends to come in from the open sea and pass quickly, and says a full day of rain was rare. The same author notes that, even then, March to June were bringing longer rainy days and more volume than usual.
That is a local account, not a measurement, but it helps with planning. In the wetter months of the table, leave some slack in your plans and do not save sunshine-dependent outings for your last day.
No. Even in the coolest months, July and August, average lows are 23 °C (73 °F). The gap between the warmest and coolest months is only 2 °C (about 4 °F), for both lows and highs, so rain matters more than temperature when you pick your dates.
Yes. As a reference, the site Temperatura do Mar shows monthly averages of around 26.5 °C to 29 °C (80 °F to 84 °F) for Natal, the state capital. It is an approximate figure, and each beach varies.
The tide matters more than the temperature. In Pipa it changes the access to some beaches and what you can do at each one. Along with the forecast, check the tide table and the beaches of Pipa.
Pipa sits close to the equator, so day length barely changes through the year. In Natal, the nearest reference, sunrise falls between about 4:50 and 5:30 am, and sunset between about 5:10 and 5:45 pm. It gets dark early even in summer, so start your beach days in the morning and match them to the tide.
Pipa is a district of Tibau do Sul, so search for the forecast under that name. Two references are the Tibau do Sul forecast on Climatempo and Inmet, Brazil’s national weather service. Both are in Portuguese, so your browser’s translate option helps.
Use the forecast for the days closest to your trip. Weeks ahead, the averages above are more useful than a distant forecast. On the day of an outing, read the forecast and the tide together: that combination decides the plan.
A cloudy day does not have to stop the trip. The Pipa food guide lists restaurants and bars for a slow lunch, and the tours in Pipa page helps you rebook what you put off. Before you head out, ask each operator whether the tour runs in the rain.
For a group, your stay matters more on these days. A house with a covered outdoor area and a living room for everyone lets you cook, play games and wait for the weather to clear without feeling stuck.
The heat is steady, so the basics of your suitcase barely change through the year:
At Vive Pipa you can browse vacation rentals in Pipa, with each house’s amenities listed on its page. If your trip falls between March and July, look for a covered outdoor area.
If you are coming for the end of the year, the weather usually helps, and it pays to plan ahead. See our New Year’s Eve guide and the houses for New Year’s Eve.
