Different cuisine in Praia do Amor
You reach Praia do Amor down the escadaria dos Pescadores, the fishermen's stairway that starts at the edge of the village and ends on the sand. At the bottom of the steps, third beach bar on the left, a hand-painted sign hangs from the bank among the coconut palms: mais amor restaurante. Below it are the sun loungers with parasols and tables set straight onto the sand, and in front, the water and the natural pools. The house sums itself up in one line: it faces the natural pools of Praia do Amor, and the soundtrack is the sound of the sea.

This is beach service, and that shapes everything else. There is no dining room: there is a strip of sand with sun loungers, parasols planted in the ground and tables and chairs set on the beach floor, facing the water. You turn up in swimwear, pick where to sit, and the table is built around that spot. The house serves on site and also does takeaway, which covers you if your lounger is further along the sand or you are walking back to the village.
The hand-painted sign hangs from the bank that separates the beach from the forest and is visible from a distance: that is the landmark worth memorising before you go down, because Praia do Amor has several beach bars in a row.
The cooking is north-eastern beach cooking, and the house names two things in its own Instagram highlights: prawns and lula à milanesa, breaded squid. These are dishes to order for the middle of the table and eat with your hands, with the water ten metres away. The hours finish the picture: the kitchen runs from 10 am to 4:30 pm, so everything served here is lunch and a long afternoon.
Payment is by card and by Pix: both are stated on the house menu.
The drinks list is published in full and it is the most developed part of the house. Without alcohol there is coconut water, still and sparkling water, soft drinks by the can or the litre, Red Bull, fresh fruit juice, suco mix and two blended fruit drinks without alcohol: hula-hula and batida de frutas.
The caipirinha list is long and organised by base spirit. There is caipirinha and caipirinha especial; caipiroska with Smirnoff or Absolut; and caipifruta in eight combinations: cachaça, cachaça mix, Smirnoff, Smirnoff mix, Absolut, Absolut mix, gin and gin mix. Alongside them sit mojito, gin and tonic, piña colada, and the alcoholic versions of hula-hula and batida de frutas with Smirnoff or Absolut vodka.
For beer there are long necks —Stella Artois, Heineken and Corona— and 600 ml bottles of Brahma Duplo, Original, Stella Artois and Heineken, which is the format for sharing at the table. Spirits by the measure are cachaça Pitú, cachaça Matuta, rum, Smirnoff vodka, Absolut vodka and gin. And there is wine by the bottle, with the label to ask about on the day.
There are no sound systems here, and it is written down. The house menu carries a printed line that reads as a statement of intent: "Deixe o barulho do mar ser a trilha sonora da praia" — let the sound of the sea be the soundtrack of the beach — and below it, the notice that sound equipment is prohibited under Tibau do Sul's Municipal Law No. 693/2020. The same idea is in their Instagram description: the soundtrack is the sound of the sea, the connection is with nature and with happy days shared.
That organises the setting better than any adjective: the background noise is the break, and the table is built to stay in, with a lounger, a parasol, the water in front and conversation at normal volume. Around it, the landscape is the beach itself: coconut palms and forest on the bank, the cliff closing the bay on one side and the reef platform out in front.
Two more declarations are worth knowing before you choose a table. The verified listing states that this is an LGBTQ+ friendly business and that it identifies as a woman-led business. And among their own Instagram highlights there is one devoted to the turtle nests of Praia do Amor, alongside posts about keeping the beach clean: looking after that strip of sand is part of how they present themselves.
The fact that organises the week: it closes on Tuesdays. Wednesday to Monday it opens at 10 am and closes at 4:30 pm. Six days, six and a half hours of service, all of them in daylight.
That makes Mais Amor a daytime house rather than a dinner one. Arriving at 10 am means arriving with the sand still open and your choice of parasol free; midday to 2:30 pm is the full lunch stretch; and 3 pm to 4:30 pm is the after-lunch window, with the kitchen still working and the beach starting to thin out. If the plan is to eat unhurried, go down before noon.
The other clock that matters here is the sea. Praia do Amor is a reef beach and the width of sand in front of the tables changes through the day, as does the look of the natural pools the house faces. Before you go down, check the Pipa tide table and pick your hour with that in view: it is the difference between finding a wide strip and a narrow one.
It sits on the Praia do Amor seafront, on Rua Praia do Amor in Tibau do Sul. The plus code is QX85+FV and the coordinates land on the sand itself.
The house explains the access: you come down the escadaria dos Pescadores and it is the third beach bar on the left. That stairway is the shortest arrival, and it is worth using as your reference rather than looking for a street door, because there is none: the entrance is the sand.
From the village centre and from any guesthouse on Praia da Pipa you can walk along Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos to the Praia do Amor access and then take the steps. Go in flip-flops with a towel: the last part of the way is sand and stairs. If you are arriving in Pipa from Natal, the airport or another beach along the coast, look at the transfer options to cover the long leg and move around on foot afterwards.
Anyone who wants a full beach day without music. The house bans sound equipment and says so on its menu.
Families. Ten to four-thirty is exactly the shape of a beach day with children, the tables are on the sand ten metres from the water, and you can order takeaway if someone stays on the lounger.
Couples and groups of friends who want lunch with their feet in the sand, prawns in the middle of the table and an afternoon that runs on with a caipifruta, looking out at the natural pools.
No. Tuesday is the closing day. It opens Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10 am to 4:30 pm.
The house closes at 4:30 pm on every day it opens. To eat without rushing, arrive before 2 pm.
No. The house states on its menu that sound equipment is prohibited under Municipal Law No. 693/2020, and asks that the sound of the sea be the beach's soundtrack.
