Lunch on Largo São Sebastião, in central Pipa: fish, shrimp, meat and a full vegan page of its own. Ask for your table at lunchtime on WhatsApp.
Largo São Sebastião is the square that organises central Pipa, and at number 79 you find Guarapirá, with its kitchen pointed at lunch: fish and shrimp, meat off the grill, and a vegan section that fills a full page of the menu. It opens at 07:30 and closes at 15:15, so this is a breakfast-and-lunch house. The whole menu is published, which means you choose before you sit down.

It is the core of the menu and the house calls it handmade. Shapes run from fettuccine and spaghetti to penne, rigatoni, lasagne and ravioli, paired with Italian sauces: alfredo with sage and parmesan, carbonara, tropical pesto with fresh tomato and cashew, pesto with shrimp, and bolognese in the house sauce.
The ravioli come with three fillings of their own: ricotta and spinach, fish and shrimp with capers, and beef in tomato sauce with basil. The bolognese lasagne is handmade too.
Shrimp comes three ways — marinara, panko-breaded, and peeled in garlic and oil — each with its rice, its beans and either salad or chips. For fish there is a marinara steak, a grilled fillet and fish and chips in a light, crisp batter.
Grilled sirloin with salad and chips; carne de sol with onions, cream optional; beef or chicken parmigiana, with rice and chips or with spaghetti in the house sauce; grilled chicken thigh; and lemon chicken escalope with rice, beans and cassava.
Three full plates, not side dishes: vegan bolognese pasta with soy protein and a mix of yeast, cashew and peanut; vegan meatballs of aubergine, soy and sweet potato in marinara sauce; and stuffed pancakes with soy and vegetables, the last two with rice and cassava. It is what lets one table seat someone who eats everything and someone who eats nothing from an animal.
To pick at before the main course, or to stretch out the midday table: panko shrimp, the house fish cakes, sirloin strips, fish strips, garlic and oil shrimp, chips and fried cassava. Burgers are built on a 180-gram blend — the plain one, the cheeseburger and the cheese bacon egg — always with chips and a sauce.
The shutters go up at 07:30, 07:00 on Tuesdays, and breakfast is half of the day here. The menu opens with three combos, each with fruit-pulp juice, two fruits of the day, coffee and the cake of the day. What changes is the main item: tapioca plain or with grated tomato and basil, cuscuz with cheese cream and vinaigrette, or bread with egg.
À la carte there is tapioca with queijo coalho, with carne de sol in cream and sweet; fried or scrambled eggs, or eggs with bacon and toast; and omelettes with tomato, with ham and cheese or with shredded carne de sol.
In the morning, fruit-pulp juices, lemon, orange or strawberry, filter coffee, espresso or coffee with milk, water and soft drinks. Coffee comes inside the breakfast combo and stays on the menu all day.
With lunch, beer in long necks or cans — Brahma duplo malte, Spaten, Heineken and Original — caipirinha with cachaça, caipiroska and caipifruta, local or imported gin and tonic, and shots of cachaça. There is also a wine list by the bottle, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carménère, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, a brut prosecco and a moscato spritzer: availability is checked on the spot, which is a good reason to message ahead.
And there is dessert to close the table: açaí with granola and honey or condensed milk, sweet tapioca, cane syrup, jam and queijo coalho.
The house describes itself as casual and quiet, and the clock explains why. At 07:30 Largo São Sebastião is still waking up: the dining room runs at half volume, with coffee freshly brewed and the first tapiocas coming out of the kitchen. Towards midday the tables coming back from the beach fill up, and at 15:15 it closes. The whole service happens in daylight.
You eat in the dining room, with table service, and there is a toilet on site. The house itself flags the address as good for solo diners: a table for one with the menu open is part of the scenery — you walk in, order, and carry on with your morning.
Guarapirá opens early and closes mid-afternoon: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 07:30 to 15:15, and on Tuesday half an hour earlier, from 07:00, to the same closing time. Two services inside one shift — breakfast and lunch — and the clock is the single most useful fact on this page.
It is closed on Wednesdays. That is the house's day off, and it is worth noting down: if your lunch on the Largo lands on a Wednesday, move it to any other day of the week.
For breakfast the window runs 07:30 to 10:00 and it is the calmest part of the day: juice, fruit, coffee and the cake of the day with the Largo still empty, before you head down to the sand. For lunch, the sensible slot is between 12:00 and 13:30, when the whole menu is running. From 14:00 you are into the last stretch, and that is when a WhatsApp message ahead pays off.
And the consequence that shapes the itinerary most: there is no dinner here. Guarapirá closes at 15:15 on all six days it opens — Saturdays and Sundays included, on the same hours as the rest of the week — so the house belongs to the midday plan.
Guarapirá is at Largo São Sebastião 79, the square of central Pipa, a two-minute walk from the path down to Praia da Pipa. The whole village is walkable, so if you are staying in the centre you get there on foot.
If you drive, there is free on-street parking around the Largo. There is a dining room for eating in and an iFood page of its own, handy when the plan is lunch back at the apartment. Coming from Natal, check the transfer options.
The house is listed as good for kids, and the hours help: at eight in the morning the dining room is quiet and breakfast comes out fast. At midday the menu has plates that work on their own for a table with a child — spaghetti in the house sauce, chicken parmigiana, chips, the plain burger — plus portions to share. There is a toilet on site and the service is at the table.
For a table that wants a proper lunch right in the centre without leaving the beach behind: handmade pasta, fish or shrimp, then back to walking.
For anyone who starts early and wants breakfast outside the guesthouse, at 07:30, with the square still to themselves.
For mixed groups where one person is vegan and the rest are not: the three vegan plates are full plates, sides included.
And for solo travellers: the house calls itself good for eating alone, with table service and the menu published in advance.
Wednesday is the closing day. The house opens the other six days of the week: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 07:30 to 15:15, and Tuesday from 07:00 to 15:15.
07:30 to 15:15 on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; on Tuesday it starts at 07:00 and closes at the same time.
The kitchen closes at 15:15, so service ends mid-afternoon: Guarapirá is for breakfast or lunch.
