Sweeten your life!
On Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos, at number 585, there is a two-storey building clad in timber, its front open to the street and a chilled display cabinet set against the pavement. Inside, white tables and chairs; above, a glazed upper floor. This is Adocee, the dessert shop and coffee house in the middle of Praia da Pipa: whole cakes, counter sweets, desserts in a glass and coffee, from one or two in the afternoon until eleven at night, seven days a week.

You walk straight in from the avenue: no door, no step, the front stands open and the first thing you meet is the chilled cabinet, with the cakes and sweets at eye level. You look, you choose, you order at the counter, and you either eat at one of the tables inside or carry it away wrapped.
The format is that of a classic Brazilian doceria: the work is patisserie, not bakery. Cakes arrive whole, built on a cardboard base printed with the house name, and are sold whole or cut by the slice. Beside them, on trays, the small sweets; in the fridge, the desserts in glasses; and at the machine, the coffee, which is what turns the visit into a stop rather than a quick purchase.
This is what defines the house. There is a line of tall layer cakes, with the covering worked across both the top and the sides:
The house photographs show each cake on its own branded base, which gives a practical clue: they are built to leave whole. If you are putting together a birthday at a guesthouse, that is the question worth asking on WhatsApp.
Next to the cakes sits the tray of small sweets, which in Brazil are a chapter of their own. There are filled chocolate spheres, opened at the top with cream and passion fruit showing through; quindins, the glossy golden egg-yolk and coconut sweet; and sweets wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbon, which is the format of a party table.
That last tray explains half the clientele: the house works both for the visitor who stops in for a coffee and for the person collecting the sweets for a birthday.
The third line is dessert served in a glass etched with the house logo, eaten with a long spoon and easy to carry off. Among the ones the photographs show there is a strawberry one, layered, with a crushed-biscuit base, cream and fresh fruit pressed against the glass; and one of chocolate and dulce de leche layers, with sprinkles in between and a peanut-coated truffle balanced on top.
It is the format that works at the beach: you buy it, you walk, and you eat it sitting wherever you end up. It is also the option for anyone on their own who does not want to face a whole cake or a large slice: it is a single portion and it settles the afternoon.
The house also presents itself as a coffee shop, and the drinks are built around its own branded mug. There is coffee, black and with milk, served in the glass mug with the logo; iced coffee, the glass lined with chocolate inside, crowned with whipped cream and a bar of chocolate planted on top; and a chocolate frappé, blended, with cream and a wafer roll.
That cold line is the one that makes sense here: at thirty degrees a hot coffee is not the first idea, and the list was built with that in mind.
The front is pale timber in vertical slats, with the house name painted in white on the wall and the word doceria beneath it. The ground floor opens onto the avenue, with pale flooring, white tables and the cabinet angled towards the street. Above sits a second level with a glazed window and a timber canopy that shades the pavement.
A large tree stands in front and covers much of the façade, and that changes the experience: the pavement stays in shade, which on the main avenue of Pipa at three in the afternoon is an argument in itself.
It opens every day, Monday to Wednesday at 2pm and Thursday to Sunday at 1pm, closing at 11pm. There is no day off.
The hours say a good deal about how to use the place. It is not breakfast: it opens after midday. It is the mid-afternoon stop, when you come back from the beach and dinner is still hours away; and it is dessert after a meal, because it stays open until eleven at night, while the restaurants along the avenue are still serving.
That second slot is the one worth noting: eat anywhere on the avenue, then walk down here for dessert and coffee.
One practical note about the counter: the house does not publish a fixed menu. What is there sits on the counter and changes. If you are coming for a particular cake — the pistachio, the coconut, the caramel crunch — the sensible move is to message on WhatsApp beforehand and ask whether it is in that day, rather than make the walk and find something else.
It stands on Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos at 585, the main street of Praia da Pipa, along the run of shops and restaurants. You can walk there from any guesthouse in the centre and from the path down to the beach.
With its front open to the avenue, you recognise it from a distance by the timber cladding and the tree on the pavement. There is no need to hunt for the number: the cabinet is visible from the street.
The stretch is flat and fully paved, so a pushchair gets there without trouble, and the entrance has no step — you go straight from the pavement into the room.
For the couple or the family coming back from the beach mid-afternoon who want something sweet and a coffee without sitting down at a restaurant table.
For anyone who has eaten on the avenue and wants dessert somewhere else: at eleven at night the counter is still full.
And for anyone organising something — a birthday at the guesthouse, a sweet table, a cake for a date: the whole cakes and the wrapped sweets are there for exactly that.
It opens every day. Monday to Wednesday, 2pm to 11pm; Thursday to Sunday, 1pm to 11pm.
